Mixed Textiles for Book Covers

Gisteren zijn Carmela (mijn dochter) en ik erin gevlogen om nieuwe stofjes te creëren voor book covers die ik wil maken. De blauwe creatie heeft zij gemaakt. We vonden het heel leuk om samen iets te doen, dus dit wordt in de toekomst zeker herhaald. Bedankt om me te helpen cariño!


Ayer, Carmela (mi hija) y yo empezamos a crear nuevos diseños para cubiertas de libros que quiero hacer la semana que viene. La creación azúl la ha hecho Carmela. Estuvimos muy contentas de trabajar juntas y seguramente lo repetiremos. Muchas gracias para ayudarme cariño.


Yesterday, Carmela (my daughter) and I started to create new designs for book covers I want to do make next week. The blue creation is made by Carmela. We were very happy to work together and we'll certainly go on with this in the future. Thank you so much for helping me cariño.

Cosy Bed Socks

Deze comfortabele bedsokjes in vilt heb ik gemaakt als cadeau voor mijn moeder. Ze heeft vaak last van koude voeten in bed en ik ben er zeker van dat ze met deze lekkere wollen bedsokken gemaakt met pure merino wol van binnen en vanbuiten geen kou zal hebben deze winter. Omdat ze naast het bed ook mooi zouden staan heb ik er verschillende sierstiksels op gemaakt.


Las pantuflas de fieltro que pueden ver aqui, hice como regalo para mi madre. Siempre tiene los pies frios en la cama y ahora estoy seguro que el invierno que viene va a tener los pies agradablemente calientes cuando lleva las pantuflas. Hecho de lana merino 100% y adornado con algunos bordados tambien delante de la cama están bien.

I made these comfortable cosy bed socks especially for my mother as a present. She has cold feet in bed and now I'm very sure she will have warm feet when she's wearing these felted slippers in bed this winter. They're made of 100% merino wool inside and outside. The bed socks are embellished with embroideries so they also look nice standing next to the bed.

African Mask Handbag

De vilten handtas met het Afrikaanse maskermotief heb ik gemaakt geïnspireerd door de mysterieuze Afrikaanse maskers die ik voor het eerst zag in het Afrikaanse museum in Brussel toen ik nog een kind was. Sindsdien heb ik een voorliefde voor maskers in het algemeen. Deze handtas bestaat voor 60% uit natuurlijke wol en 40 % zwart gekleurde wol van het steenschaap.


El bolso fieltrado con diseño de máscara africana fue inspirado por las máscaras misteriosas africanas que he visto por primera vez cuando visité el museo africano en Bruselas como niña. Desde entonces me encantan las máscaras en general. El bolso es hecho de 60 % de lana color natural y 40 % de lana teñida negra de oveja de montaña.

The African Mask felted Handbag I made was inspired by a visit I once made in my childhood in the African Museum in Brussels. I was fascinated by these masks then and I'm still fascinated by masks in general now. The handbag is made of 60 % natural and 40 % black wool from the stone sheep.

Ik weet niet wat het is, maar ik voel me altijd aangetrokken door boeken. De blog van Woollove-functional-fiberart en de blog van Chad Alice Hagen hebben me ertoe aangezet om eraan te beginnen. Et voilá, mijn eerste vilten boekomslag is klaar. Deze hou ik lekker voor mijn eigen agenda :-)


No sé lo que es, pero siempre me siento atraída por los libros. El blog de Woollove-functional-fiberart y el blog de Chad Alice Hagen me impulsaron a comenzar. Et voilá, mi primera cubierta de libro hecha con lana virgen está aquí. Me quedo esta cubierta de libro para mi propia agenda :-)


I do not know what it is, but I am always attracted to books. The blog of Woollove-functional-fiber and the blog of Chad Alice Hagen encouraged me to start with it. Et voila, my first felting book cover is ready. I will keep this one for my own agenda :-)

Summer Workshop Felting

De zomercursussen vilt vlotten goed. Ondanks de hitte blijven de kinderen heel enthousiast.



Los talleres de verano 2010 funcionan muy bien. A pesar del calor los niños siguen estando muy entusiasmados.



The Summer Workshop Felting goes very well. Despite of the heat the children keep on being very enthusiastic.

Natural Dyed Wallhanging

Vorige maandag heb ik een wanddecoratie gevilt op basis van natuurlijke naaldvilt. De wol die ik hiervoor gebruikte is allemaal op natuurlijke wijze gekleurd. Ik gebruikte hiervoor onder andere laurierblaadjes, aarbeien, wortelen en henna. Het is op maat gemaakt voor een plaats in onze woonkamer en past perfect op de chocoladebruine wand. De afmetingen zijn 130 x 43 cm.



El Lunes pasado fieltré una decoración de pared sobre fieltro de aguja natural. La lana que utilicé fue coloreada de manera natural con laurel, zanahorias, fresas y alheña. Está hecho a medida para decorar nuestro salon de estar. Los colores van bien con el fondo de color chocolate. El tamaño es 130 por 43 cm.



Last Monday I felted a wallhanging on a base of natural needled felt. All the wool I used was dyed with natural pigments from carrots, strawberries, laurel leaves and henna. It was custom made for our living room to match a corner that I painted chocolate brown. Its size is 130 by 43 cm.

Op dit moment ben ik een vilten wanddecoratie aan het maken die volledig uit vervilte wol bestaat. Het idee voor het ontwerp kwam bij het zien van een foto in een fantasie tekenboek waar mijn dochter graag tekeningen uit maakt. Het boek staat vol met taferelen uit fantasieverhalen en allerlei avonturen. Bij het vilten gebruik ik bronwater uit Benahavís, een wit bergdorpje in de omgeving van San Pedro. Het water komt uit de Sierra de las Nieves en is zo helder en lekker dat er alle dagen vele mensen water komen aftappen aan die bron.


Estoy haciendo una decoración de pared con fieltro. Está hecha completamente de lana virgen. La inspiracíón fue una imagen que he visto en un libro de fantasía con imagines y cuentos de aventuras. Estoy usando agua natural de la fuente de Benahavís que está en la Sierra de las Nieves cerca de San Pedro. El agua es tan pura y buena que cada día mucha gente viene aprovecharse al fuente.


I am making a felt textile art wallhanging.It is completely made of felted wool. For the design I was inspired by a picture in a fantasy book of my daughter who likes to draw pictures from fantasy and adventure tales. I use natural water from the spring of Benahavís that lies in the mountains of the Sierra de las Nieves near San Pedro. This water is so pure and good that a lot of people come to tap this water from the spring every day.
