Bij Tante Tuut op de Koffie

Afgelopen week ben ik vooral bezig geweest met het maken van een Nederlandstalige blog. We wonen nu bijna vier jaar in het zuiden van Spanje en ik merk dat mijn Nederlands erop achteruit gaat doordat ik hier natuurlijk veel Spaans en Engels praat, lees en schrijf. Dus ik dacht als ik nu eens een blog maak maar dan alleen in het Nederlands schrijf, dan ben ik dagelijks met mijn moedertaal bezig op een leuke, aangename manier.

De blog moest iets leuks zijn en we (ons hele huisgezin) moeten er allemaal ons ei in kwijt kunnen. En het allerbelangrijkste was de naam natuurlijk. We hebben wat afgelachen deze week maar de keuze is dan toch gevallen op Tante Tuut. Waarom? Dat kan je lezen op Bij Tante Tuut op de koffie.

Ik blijf natuurlijk ook verder doen met deze blog maar door de artrose die in de winter zijn kop opsteekt zal het ook iets minder vilten zijn. Dus heb ik tijd om andere dingen te doen zoals schrijven, veel schrijven!

How to make your own labels for your exhibition?

Here I will explain how to make your own labels for your exhibition or selling events. It is not difficult and it takes only 1 or 2 hours to make them, depending of how many labels you want.

What do you need?

Cardboard, self made prints, transparent elastic drying PVAc glue, scissors, a ruler, a cutting mat or hard cardboard and a sharp knife.

How do you make it?

1. With excesses of acrylic paint you can make the most wonderful prints. Rub the paint on top of an old newspaper and than make a print of it on a white drawing paper. I usually use paper of 130 gram or 150 gram. You can do this every time you paint something, after a while you will have lots of them to create your own treasures.
2. Collect boxes of cereals or other cardboard boxes.
3. Cut the cardboard boxes into rectangles of 6 cm by 9 cm.
4. Cut the printed paper into rectangles of 8 cm by 11 cm.
5. Glue the printed paper on top of the cardboard. I use bookbinding glue because it dries very quickly.
6. Cut the four corners diagonally, so you can easily unfold the printed paper and glue it at the back of the cardboard
7. Now cut rectangles out of the printed paper of 5 cm by 8 cm and glue these at the back of your card. Now your label is covered with printed paper, you can start making your text labels in Word or Appleworks.
8. Once you have your text labels, cut them out but make sure the size is not bigger than 4,5 cm by 7,5 cm and glue them on the front of your beautiful printed labels.

Now you know how to make your own labels for your exhibition or other selling events.

On more Felt Wallhanging

Unfortunately I can show you only one more Felt Wallhanging. The other pics we've taken are very bad, it is difficult with our camera to take good photos inside a building. Most of the time we take our pictures on our terrace because there is a lot of light. To make this one "Pebbles" I've made three pre-felts of merino wool and than I made a design of "Pebbles" on top of the white pre-felt. Before I start painting with acrylics, I prepared the canvas with gesso, to give it a little bit of structure.


Desafortunadamente solo puedo enseñaros una tapiz más de fieltro. El resto de las fotos que hicimos son de mala calidad, es difícil hacer fotos con nuestra cámara dentro. La mayoría de las veces hacemos las fotos en nuestra azotea porque ahi hay mucha luz. Para hacer esta "Piedras" hice tres pre-fieltros de lana merino y entonces hice un diseño de "Piedras" encima del pre-fieltro blanco. Antes de comenzar a pintar con acrilicos, preparé el lienzo con yeso, para darle un poco de estructura.

Exhibition Preview 12 November Ronda

Yesterday we had a great Exhibition preview of "Heartfelt from Trudis", my first felt exhibition here in Ronda. A lot of friends from Ronda came to visit the exhibition and gave very positive comments. It was very pleasant to hear from different people from all over the world (Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Germany and the UK) they liked the textile art creations and it gives me a lot of satisfaction after the weeks of hard work. Later on this week I will post more pics. Thank you so much everybody!

Muchos amigos y amigas de Ronda han venido para ver la exposición y los comentarios fueron muy positivos. Preparing everything for tomorrow's Felt Exhibition

One more night to go, I'm pretty nervous now! Almost everything is done for the Felt Exhibition who will start tomorrow. This morning I have made my own labels for my felted wallhangings. Later this week I will post a "How to" blog post on how you can make them. But now I have to do a meditation to calm down because my head is spinning around with lots of things I still have to do before the opening. So, goodnight everybody and have a good relaxing rest.

Felting Balls

 

Today we have made a lot of felting balls for necklaces, keychains etc... I love mixing all kind of different colors, it makes me happy!

Hoy hemos hecho un montón de bolas de fieltro para collares, llaveros etc... Me encanta mezclar todo tipo de colores, me hace feliz!

Vandaag hebben we een heleboel vilten balletjes gemaakt voor halskettingen, sleutelhangers etc... Ik hou ervan om allerlei kleuren met elkaar te mixen, het maakt me happy!

Exhibition Trudis Creations in Ronda

The first exhibition of my artistic creations with felt and mixed media will be held within 2 weeks in Ronda. I started to promote it with a poster and invitations for the exhibition preview on Friday 12th of November at 5 p.m. in the Andalucian Soap Company Shop in Calle Sevilla 23 in Ronda.

La primera exposición de mis creaciones artisticas con fieltro, lana virgen y técnica mixta se celebra dentro de dos semanas en Ronda. Empecé a promocionarla con un cartel y invitaciones para la inauguración el Viernes 12 de Noviembre a las 5 de la tarde en la tienda Andalucian Soap Company en Calle Sevilla nº23, Ronda.

De eerste tentoonstelling van mijn kunstwerken met vilt en gemengde technieken zal binnen twee weken plaatsvinden in Ronda. Ik ben begonnen met de promotie ervan met een affiche en uitnodigingen voor de openingsreceptie op vrijdag 12 november om 17:00u in de winkel van Andalucian Soap Company in Ronda in de Calle Sevilla nr. 23

Mixed Media DVD

Yesterday my DVD "Inspired Velvet with Angie Hughes" arrived. She is a mixed media artist and works with a cotton velvet and combines it with silk paints, ink, foils and sweet papers, prints, organzas and gives it a final touch with machine embroidery. She guides you through ten different inspiring textile techniques. The most important thing what caught my attention when I read about it was that she was inspired by Klimt and Hundertwasser, which are my favorites too. Especially Hundertwasser, how he combines colors and shapes... that really hits me!
It is very interesting to see how she builds up layer upon layer. Go to her website here to have a look at her layered artwork. She also has a blog angiestextilenoteswhere you can find all her beautiful artwork and art classes. On her website as well on her blog you can see a preview of this DVD.
Have fun with it! I'm sure this will be something I want to do this winter because I can not felt in wintertime. I have osteoarthritis in my hands, arms and back, so I'm looking for interesting things to express myself in another way.

Painting on Fabric - Pintar sobre Tela - Schilderen op Stof

I have to slow down this week, no felting, my right elbow hurts very much, so I have to do things that require less muscles. Earlier this week I wrote about the tutorial from Alma Stoller, and that's what I have done...painting with acrylic paints on fabric (cotton) and finishing the fabric with watercolor pencils. I'm sure I can make very nice book covers out of it.

Tengo que estar tranquila esta semana, no hacer de fieltro, porque me duele muchísimo el codo. Por eso tengo mucho tiempo libre para experimentar con otras cosas que requieren menos esfuerzo. A principio de esta semana escribí sobre un tutorial de Alma Stoller. Y esto es lo que hice. Pintar sobre tela (algodón) con pinturas acrílicas y lo terminé con lápices de acuarelas. Estoy segura de que ahora puedo hacer algunas cubiertas de libros muy buenas.


Ik moet het kalmer aan doen deze week, geen viltwerk daar ik last heb van een tenniselleboog, dus heb ik tijd zat om te experimenteren met andere dingen die minder spierkracht vergen. Eerder deze week schreef ik over de tutorial van Alma Stoller. En dit is wat ik gedaan heb. Verven op katoen met acrylverf en afwerken met aquarelpotloden. Dit worden vast leuke boekomslagen.

Inspiration from the mountains of Andalucía - Inspiración de las montañas de Andalucía

This morning we (my husband and I) went for a walk at "el puerto del viento 1190 m" in the "Sierra de las Nieves" in Andalucía. I love the shape of the rocks and the many moss who covers the plants, trees and rocks. It makes me quiet and the only thing I can think about is, "I'm so grateful that I can live is such a beautiful surrounding"!



Esta mañana, mi marido y yo, hemos paseado por "el puerto del viento 1190 m" en la "Sierra de las Nieves" en Andalucía. Me encanta la forma de las rocas y el musgo que cubre las plantas, arboles y rocas. Me da paz y la unica cosa que puedo pensar en este momento es, !"Estoy tan agradecido que puedo vivir en un sitio tan maravilloso"!


Deze morgen zijn mijn man en ik gaan wandelen aan "el puerto del viento 1190m" in de "Sierra de las Nieves" in Andalucía. Ik hou van de vorm van de rotsen daar en het vele mos dat de planten, bomen en rotsen bedekt. Het maakt me stil vanbinnen en wat ben ik dan dankbaar dat ik in zo een mooie omgeving mag wonen!

Small pieces for the Expo - Lots of Felt Dreads -

No tengo mucho tiempo para escribir en mi blog porque estoy preparando un monton de cosas para mi exposición de tapices en noviembre. Como estos pequeños tesoros de fieltro. Hemos hecho (mi marido y hija Carmela me ayudan de vez en cuando) coleteras, pulseras y collares de fieltro en muchos colores.



At this moment I do not have many time to write on my blog because I'm preparing a lot of things for my Expo with wallhangings in november. Like these little felt treasures. We (my husband and daughter Carmela, they help me occasionally) are making felted necklaces, bracelets and felt dreads in all different kind of colors to put in your hair.


Op dit ogenblik heb ik niet veel tijd meer om te bloggen omdat ik druk bezig ben met de voorbereiding van de Expo van mijn vilten wandkleden in november. We (mijn man en dochter Carmela helpen me nu en dan) maken ook kleinere hebbedingetjes zoals gevilte kettingen, armbanden en haarrekkers in allerlei kleurtjes.

Vorige week en de week ervoor zijn we druk bezig geweest met de verhuis en het inrichten van het nieuwe atelier waar ik mijn cursussen wolvilten en sieraden maken ga geven. Het huis wordt gedeeld met Uta Gruber, lerares plastische kunsten, kunstenares in keramiek en thuisonderwijzeres. Binnenkort zal het daar zoemen van creativiteit en kleur. Het is 1,7 km van waar we nu wonen (zie plannetje)

La semana pasada y la anterior estabamos ocupados con la mudanza y creando el nuevo taller donde voy a dar los cursos de fieltro y de bisutería. Compartimos la casa con Uta Gruber,profesora de bellas artes, artista de ceramica y madre de enseñanza en casa. Proximamente el lugar sera lleno de colores y creatividad. Está a 1,7 km de donde vivimos ahora. (ver mapa abajo)

Last week and the week before we were busy moving and setting up the new workshop were I am going to give the felt and jewelry making courses. The house is shared with Uta Gruber, art teacher, ceramics artist and home teacher. Soon the place will be full of colors and creativity. It is situated 1,7 km from were we live now (see map below)

Nieuwe Werkplaats - Nuevo Taller - New Workshop

Vanaf oktober werk ik samen met Uta Gruber (keramiste met meer dan 15 jaar ervaring). Onze v.z.w. heet -Recrearte- en wordt een creatieve plaats voor jong en oud. De verhuis van onze creatieve spulletjes hebben we gisteren gedaan. Verder deze week wordt alles ingericht, ik hoop binnen een aantal dagen foto's hiervan op de blog te kunnen plaatsen.

Desde octubre, trabajo con Uta Gruber (especialista en cerámica con más de 15 años de experiencia). Nuestra asociación sin animo de lucro se llama -Recrearte- y es un lugar creativo para jóvenes y mayores. Ayer hicimos la mudanza de nuestras cosas creativas. Cuando todo hemos arreglado esta semana voy a sacar algunas fotos para poner en mi blog.

Since October, I will work together with Uta Gruber (specializing in ceramics with over 15 years experience). Our non-profit association -Recrearte- will be a creative place for young and old. Yesterday we moved all of our creative things and we hope we can arrange everything this week. Within a few days I will have pics to put on my blog.

I'm back in Town

Terug van een deugddoende vakantie in Belgenland. Het was leuk om familie en vrienden nog eens terug te zien!
Het laatste weekend ben ik naar Brugge geweest bij m'n zus. Er was vanalles te doen op de autoloze zondag. Op de markt heb ik Sandra van Zsazsazsu leren kennen. Het was een hele leuke, aangename ontmoeting. Ik heb dan ook een paar van haar prachtige - handmade - juwelen mee naar Spanje genomen. Wil je meer juwelen van haar zien, ga dan naar Zsazsazsu en geniet van al het moois dat deze creatieve duizendpoot te bieden heeft.


A la vuelta de unas agradables vacaciones en Bélgica. Estoy muy contenta que he visto mi familia y amigos.
El pasado fin de la semana he estado en Brujas con mi hermana. El domingo había un día sin coches y en el mercadillo encontré Sandra de Zsazsazsu. Fue un encuentro muy agradable y amistosa. He comprado algunas de sus hermosas joyas - hecho a mano - para llevar a España. ¿Quieres ver más joyas de ella, va a Zsazsazsu y disfruta de la belleza de sus creaciones.


I'm back from a pleasant holiday in Belgium. It was nice to see my family and friends again!
The last weekend of my vacation I've been to Bruges to stay at my sisters place. There was a car free Sunday and lots of things to do . On an arts & crafts market I've met Sandra from Zsazsazsu. It was a nice and pleasant meeting. I bought a few of her very beautiful - handmade - jewelry to bring back to Spain with me. Do you know the difference between a scarf and a shawl?

Ik was in gesprek met iemand van de websitebuilder waarmee we de TrudisCreations.com website maken en die vertelde mij wat volgens haar het verschil tussen de engelse woorden "scarf" en "shawl" was. Weer wat bijgeleerd: een shawl is een omslagdoek die ook over de schouders kan gedragen worden en een scarf is een sjaal die je rond de nek draagt. In het vertaalwoordenboek van Dale staat bij shawl ook omslagdoek en hoofddoek. In het Spaans hebben we maar liefst vier woorden hiervoor chal, mantón, manta en echarpe en dan ook nog bufanda en pañuelo. Wat de Appaloosa Sjaal nu eigenlijk is mag je zelf kiezen. Ik vind hem schitterend, de textuur is prachtig en de kleuren deden me onmiddellijk aan die prachtige paarden van de indianen denken, vandaar de naam.

es como se lleva, en los hombros para shawl y en el cuello para scarf. Así seria bufanda y pañuelo nos dice Carmela nuestra hija. La bufanda que hice Trudis que hemos llamado Appaloosa me gusta muchisimo, la textura es magnifico y por los colores directamente pensaba a los colores de los caballos de los indios. Un saludo, Wim

Native english visitors will know the difference of course, but for me as a Belgian and a man it wasn't that obvious to know the difference between the words scarf and shawl. Now I still wonder, is this a scarf or a shawl? I called it Appaloosa Dimensions are 145 x 36 cm ( 57 by 14 inch)

New Mixed Media Necklaces by Trudis

Trudis halskettingen zijn er in allerlei kleuren, soorten en in combinaties van wol, vilt, stiksels, parels, kralen, Swarovski kristallen of gehaakt. Gemengde technieken dus. Volgende week is Trudis terug in Ronda en dan begint ze met de voorbereidingen van de workshops voor kinderen en volwassenen. Ondertussen werk ik verder aan de TrudisCreations website waar nu een aparte pagina is met de laatste nieuwe halskettingen.

La semana que viene Trudis vuelve a Ronda y entonces empezara las preparaciones de sus talleres para niños y adultos. Trudis on holiday in Belgium

Trudis is deze week in België. Ze blijft dan zoals gewoonlijk een weekje bij haar moeder. Die zal blij zijn met de vilten pantoffels. Misschien heeft ze ook wel wat inspiratie opgedaan tijdens de seventies party ter ere van het 35 jarige jubileum van het huwelijk van haar zus in Brugge. Ja in 1975 klonken onder andere de hits van ABBA door de boxen, SOS, Waterloo. Vorig weekend in Brugge wellicht ook. Trudis maakte ook een mooie halsketting voor haar zus. De halsketting "Grazalema".

Trudis està de vacaciones en Bèlgica. Este semana va a visitar su mama con las pantuflas y el fin de semana pasada se celebró el aniversario de matrimonio de su hermana que vive en Brujas. Habia una fiesta retro de los años '70. Sin duda va a ser una inspiración para ella. Fueron los años de Abba con Waterloo, SOS etc. Para su hermana hice el collar de fieltro Grazalema.

This week Trudis is visiting her family in Belgium. She is staying for a week with her mother and will give her the cosy bedsocks. Her sister has been celebrating the 35th anniversary of her marriage and there has been a seventies party last weekend. This will inspire Trudis without doubt. She has also made the beautiful Grazalema necklace for her sister.

Mixed Textiles for Book Covers

Gisteren zijn Carmela (mijn dochter) en ik erin gevlogen om nieuwe stofjes te creëren voor book covers die ik wil maken. De blauwe creatie heeft zij gemaakt. We vonden het heel leuk om samen iets te doen, dus dit wordt in de toekomst zeker herhaald. Bedankt om me te helpen cariño!


Ayer, Carmela (mi hija) y yo empezamos a crear nuevos diseños para cubiertas de libros que quiero hacer la semana que viene. La creación azúl la ha hecho Carmela. Estuvimos muy contentas de trabajar juntas y seguramente lo repetiremos. Muchas gracias para ayudarme cariño.


Yesterday, Carmela (my daughter) and I started to create new designs for book covers I want to do make next week. The blue creation is made by Carmela. We were very happy to work together and we'll certainly go on with this in the future. Thank you so much for helping me cariño.

Cosy Bed Socks

Deze comfortabele bedsokjes in vilt heb ik gemaakt als cadeau voor mijn moeder. Ze heeft vaak last van koude voeten in bed en ik ben er zeker van dat ze met deze lekkere wollen bedsokken gemaakt met pure merino wol van binnen en vanbuiten geen kou zal hebben deze winter. Omdat ze naast het bed ook mooi zouden staan heb ik er verschillende sierstiksels op gemaakt.


Las pantuflas de fieltro que pueden ver aqui, hice como regalo para mi madre. Siempre tiene los pies frios en la cama y ahora estoy seguro que el invierno que viene va a tener los pies agradablemente calientes cuando lleva las pantuflas.
